We perform twice a year, in December and May, in the glorious setting of Tewkesbury Abbey with full Norman acoustics! We rehearse in Chance St School, Tewkesbury (click here for map) on Mondays during the school term. Rehearsals run from 7.30 to 9.30pm, with a break for revitalising the vocals.
Subscriptions go towards the cost of rehearsal accommodation, conductor, accompanist and providing quality orchestras for the concerts. Subs are £40 for the Autumn term and £40 for the rest, or £80 up front. It makes us one of the best value choirs in the district! Cheques can be given to the Treasurer during rehearsals, or paid by direct transfer to the Society bank account:
TCS, sort code 30-91-87, account 03028035
Please include your name and voice part in the reference box. Existing members who need to discuss smaller regular payments are invited to see the Treasurer who is a Very Reasonable Man.
Tax payers are invited to gift-aid their subs which enables us to claim back tax paid on most of the sub at no grief to you; a form can be downloaded by clicking here, complete and either print and pass on to the Treasurer or save and email to firstname.lastname@example.org .
To encourage participation by young singers the Society has a bursary scheme which provides free or reduced membership for singers under the age of 25 at the start of the season.
Would you enjoy singing in a beautiful Abbey with a large choir and orchestra?
Can you hold a tune, and follow a music score?
Can you commit to rehearsing regularly on Monday evenings?
Does your cat stay peacefully asleep while you sing in the bath?
Consider joining us; it only makes sense. We welcome commitment and enthusiasm over musical knowledge, and run short courses on reading and interpreting the music score to help you. There’s a poster here to download and stick on your desktop to remind you. You can message us for more details on the Contact Us page, or just turn up on Monday evenings and ask for Pauline (Membership Secretary) or Aj (Chairman) – check the Notice Board for rehearsal dates.
