Membership
Membership is open to all. Just turn up to a rehearsal. The conductor will spend a few minutes on a voice test to ensure that you can sing in tune and follow a vocal score. There is an annual subscription (currently £55) which helps to defray the costs of putting on our concerts and a variable charge for the hire of music.
Rehearsals are held at Tewkesbury C. of E. Primary School, Chance Street, Tewkesbury on Monday evenings between 7.30pm and 9.30pm. The Society starts rehearsing each year in early September and activities cease for the summer after the social gathering that follows the May concert.
In order to encourage participation by young singers the Society has established a Bursary Fund. This effectively provides free membership of the Society each year to one or two young people aged between 15 and 25.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals start on 11th January 2010 run every Monday evening during term time. The exceptions are listed below:
- Monday 11th January 2010 (Rehearsals begin for Verdi's Requiem)
- Monday 15th February 2010 (Half term - no rehearsal)
- Monday 29th March 2010 (Last rehearsal before the Easter break)
- Monday 19th April 2010 (Rehearsals resume)
- Saturday 8th May 2010 (Rehearsal in Gloucester Cathedral - 12 noon to 3pm)
- Saturday 8th May 2010 (Verdi Requiem concert - 7.30pm)
- Monday 10th May 2010 (Social evening)
